5 Quick Tips To Make You A Moving Pro

Moving is a stressful and frankly not a fun thing to do. In fact, rarely are fun and easy used to describe moving. Luckily we are here to give you 5 quick tips that will help your move go a lot smoother.

1. Start With The Big Items

Getting your biggest items packed and secured first can make a world of a difference to your overall moving process. Your home surely has a plethora of items that need to be boxed and packed, especially in the garage and kitchen. Starting with the biggest items in the biggest rooms of your home can relieve a lot of stress knowing its the smaller items that remain.

2. Trash It

It is a good idea to go through your home and designate which items are necessary, needed or unneeded. Knowing exactly what is coming with you vs what is going to be sold/trashed will lighten up your workload significantly and make the packing process easier with added room. It might not be fun getting rid of that cardboard box your kids used to play with or that bicycle that has been sitting for 3 years but getting rid of these unnecessary items is a must.

3. Get Organized

Being organized is one of the hardest things to do during a move but you need to be organized if you have any hopes of staying sane. Check out our other moving tips and our best boxes blog to get some ideas on how to make the packing process easier. A big tip we are a fan of includes color coding your boxes and properly labeling them. Knowing exactly what each box is and contains will help the packing and unpacking of your truck 1000 times easier for you and whoever is helping you move.

4. Create and Stick To A Plan

Creating a well though out plan is a must in our eyes. This will help you know exactly what is going where. This plan can be all in 1 week or spread out over months but whatever you choose, stick to it. Deviating from the plan has never worked for anyone.

5. No Space

DO NOT LEAVE SPACE IN BOXES!

Try and fit as much as you safely and securely can in a box but if there is any leftover space, fill it with newspaper or packing peanuts. This will prevent your boxed items from moving around during transportation thus ensuring your items are safe.
